Kalikot, Nepal (DT) – A tragic jeep accident in Kalikot’s Raduneta area of Palata Rural Municipality-3 has resulted in the deaths of seven passengers and injuries to 13 others.
According to Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the Chief District Officer of Kalikot, the Bolero jeep, which was carrying 20 passengers, veered off the road and plunged 500 meters down the hillside at around 2:30 PM on Sunday. Ten passengers were confirmed dead at the scene, while others sustained injuries.

The jeep was traveling from Thirpu in Palata to its destination when the accident occurred. The injured, some in critical condition, were airlifted by a Nepal Army helicopter from Surkhet to Karnali Provincial Hospital in Surkhet for medical treatment.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident, though preliminary reports suggest that the difficult terrain and weather conditions may have contributed to the crash. Rescue operations were conducted swiftly, with local residents and the Nepal Army providing immediate assistance.
As of now, further details on the identities of those involved in the accident are awaited.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene and transported the injured to local hospitals, where some remain in critical condition. The victims, most of whom were passengers aboard the bus, include both locals and travelers.
This incident adds to a growing number of road accidents in Nepal, highlighting the need for improved infrastructure and safety measures.
