New Delhi, India (DT) — The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has nominated Dr. Neena Malhotra as India’s next Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden. Currently serving as Officer on Special Duty within the Ministry, Dr. Malhotra is expected to assume her new role in Stockholm shortly, according to the official statement.
Dr. Malhotra, a 1992-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has held significant diplomatic roles, including her prior appointment as Ambassador of India to the Republic of Italy, where she was concurrently accredited as Ambassador to the Republic of San Marino in October 2020. During her tenure in Italy, she was based in Rome, leading efforts to strengthen Indo-Italian and Indo-Sanmarinese ties.

Her appointment to Sweden reflects India’s focus on deepening relations in green technology, sustainable development, and trade with Sweden, a key partner in Europe.
