Bihar CM Race Heats Up: Tejashwi Yadav Leads, Nitish Kumar’s Popularity Declines – Survey

Patna, Bihar – With Bihar’s Assembly elections set to take place at the end of the year, the political landscape is witnessing major shifts. A recent C-Voter survey has unveiled surprising trends, showing a sharp decline in the popularity of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has emerged as the leading choice for the next CM. Additionally, Jansuraj founder Prashant Kishore (PK) and BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary are also contenders in the race.

Tejashwi Yadav Leads the CM Polls

According to the survey, 41% of respondents prefer Tejashwi Yadav as Bihar’s next Chief Minister, reflecting a continuous rise in his popularity. In contrast, only 18% of people support Nitish Kumar for another term.

Prashant Kishore’s Growing Popularity

The survey also indicates increasing support for Prashant Kishore, with 15% of respondents favoring him for the CM post. This puts him ahead of BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary, who secured just 8% support. Chirag Paswan, leader of LJP-R, garnered a mere 4% support.

Public Discontent with Nitish Government

The survey highlights rising dissatisfaction with Nitish Kumar’s government:

  • 50% of people are completely unhappy with his rule.
  • 22% are unhappy but do not seek change.
  • 25% neither oppose the government nor demand change.

Biggest Election Issues in Bihar

The survey identifies unemployment as the most critical issue:

  • 45% consider unemployment as Bihar’s biggest challenge.
  • 11% believe inflation is the main concern.
  • 10% cite basic infrastructure (electricity, water, roads) as key issues.
  • 4% see agriculture and corruption as major problems.

Last Election Performance

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections:

  • RJD won 75 seats, becoming the largest party.
  • BJP secured 74 seats.
  • JDU got 43 seats.
  • LJP-R (Chirag Paswan’s party) failed to win a single seat.

Will Bihar See a New Chief Minister?

Survey results indicate that Bihar may witness a political shift in the upcoming elections. With Nitish Kumar’s declining popularity, Tejashwi Yadav emerging as the top choice, and Prashant Kishore gaining traction, the election results could bring a major political transformation to the state.
