Miami, USA – The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on Thursday the death of Sarah Beckstrom, a 20-year-old National Guard agent who was attacked in a shooting in Washington, DC, on Wednesday.
Trump revealed Beckstrom’s death during a call with members of the Armed Forces. He also stated that the alleged attacker, 29-year-old Afghan Rahmanullah Lakanwal, whom Trump called “a savage monster,” is in serious condition.
“Sarah Beckstrom of West Virginia, one of the guardsmen that we’re talking about, highly respected, young, magnificent person… She’s just passed away. She’s no longer with us,” Trump said.
The US head of state added that the other agent, Andrew Wolfe, 24, who is in critical condition, is “fighting for his life.”
During the Thanksgiving Day call with the military, Trump again blamed his predecessor Joe Biden’s (2021-2025) migration policies for Lakanwal’s entry and subsequent attack.
This “atrocity reminds us that we have no greater national security priority than ensuring that we have full control over the people that enter and remain in our country,” the president stated.
Hours earlier, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced a rigorous review of the green cards of individuals from 19 countries, including Afghanistan, Cuba, Venezuela, and Haiti.
Trump thanked the troops for their involvement in the mission to protect the US from migrants whom he considers to be gang members, drug traffickers, ex-convicts, and former mental institution inmates.
“I want to express the anguish and the horror of our entire nation that the terrorist attack yesterday in our nation’s capital, in which a savage monster gunned down two service members in the West Virginia National Guard, who were deployed as part of the DC Task Force,” he reiterated.
