New Delhi: The staff of Jahangirpuri Police Station, North West District, successfully arrested a snatcher, identified as Pankaj @ Irshad @ Kale, son of Momin, resident of CD Park, Jahangirpuri, Delhi, aged 27 years. The complainant’s snatched mobile phone was recovered from the accused. The accused, Pankaj @ Irshad @ Kale, was previously found involved in two criminal cases and had resorted to criminal activities out of greed for easy money.*Brief Facts and Incident Details:*On January 3, 2026, a PCR call was received at Jahangirpuri Police Station regarding a mobile phone snatching incident. Upon receiving the information, police staff reached the spot, near Chaudhary Dairy, C-Block, Jahangirpuri, where the complainant, Arun, son of Ramchander, resident of D-Block, Jahangirpuri, was found. The investigating officer recorded the complainant’s statement, in which he stated that his mobile phone was snatched by Irshad @ Kale @ Pankaj while he was going to work in the morning.Based on the complainant’s statement, FIR No. 03/26, dated January 3, 2026, under Section 304(2) BNS, was registered at Jahangirpuri Police Station, and an investigation was initiated.*Team and Investigation:*Considering the seriousness of the crime, a dedicated team comprising HC Nityanand, HC Mandeep, HC Amit, HC Rakesh, and Constable Anil of Jahangirpuri Police Station was formed, led by Inspector Net Ram Meena (Inspector Law & Order). The team worked under the close supervision of Inspector Satwinder Singh, SHO/Jahangirpuri Police Station, and Mr. Yogendra Khokhar, Assistant Commissioner of Police/Jahangirpuri. The team was instructed to quickly solve the case and arrest the accused.The investigating team recorded a detailed statement from the complainant. As a result of the continuous efforts of the police team, based on secret information, the accused was traced hiding in the slum area of CD Park, Jahangirpuri. Upon seeing the police party, the accused climbed onto the rooftops and attempted to escape by jumping across the roofs of the adjacent shacks. Constable Anil and other staff members pursued him across the rooftops, while Head Constable Nityanand and other team members cordoned off the area from the lanes and streets below. During the chase, the roof of one of the shacks collapsed, causing both the accused and Constable Anil to fall. Despite being injured themselves, the police personnel displayed courage, vigilance, and presence of mind, successfully apprehending the accused.A search of the accused, identified as Pankaj @ Irshad @ Kale, son of Momin, resident of CD Park, Jahangirpuri, Delhi, aged 27 years, resulted in the recovery of the complainant’s stolen mobile phone.During sustained questioning, the accused confessed to his involvement in the aforementioned case. His possible involvement in other criminal cases is being investigated.
