Kathmandu, Nepal — Nepal Police have arrested three alleged drug traffickers, including two Indian nationals, during an anti-narcotics operation in Rupandehi district, officials said on Saturday.
The suspects were identified as Iqbal Khan, 50, a resident of Musafirkhana in Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh; Ram Dayal Sharma, 34, a resident of Chatara in Siddharthanagar, Uttar Pradesh; and Sarajuddin Musalman, 24, a resident of Lumbini Municipality in Nepal’s Rupandehi district.

According to a statement from Nepal Police, the Anti-Narcotics Bureau in Kathmandu launched the operation on Friday following a tip-off.
Police said one of the Indian nationals opened fire during the raid, prompting an exchange of gunfire. Iqbal Khan sustained a bullet injury below his left knee during the incident and was taken to Lumbini Provincial Hospital for treatment.
During the operation, police seized approximately 300 grams of heroin, a pistol, two rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, and two mobile phones.
The three suspects have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway by the District Police Office in Rupandehi.
