Russia, UAE Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments and Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Moscow/UAE – On January 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a phone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The two foreign ministers reaffirmed their mutual interest in furthering the development of the comprehensive bilateral strategic partnership between Moscow and Abu Dhabi. This commitment is based on agreements made at the highest levels, particularly during talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Moscow in October 2024.

In their conversation, the ministers also addressed key issues on the global and regional agenda, with a focus on the ongoing developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the situation in Lebanon, and the current state of affairs in Syria. They highlighted the need for broad external efforts under the auspices of the United Nations to foster an inclusive national dialogue involving all political, ethnic, and religious groups in Syria.

Lavrov and Al Nahyan emphasized their mutual commitment to maintaining close coordination on foreign policy, including within international organizations.
