Chișinău, Moldova — President of India Droupadi Murmu addressed the India–Moldova Business Forum in Chișinău alongside Moldovan President Maia Sandu, highlighting the vast potential for expanding trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two countries.
In her inaugural address, President Murmu said India and Moldova have shared warm and friendly relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992. She noted that the bilateral partnership is founded on mutual respect, democratic values and a shared commitment to peace, sustainable development and international cooperation.

Highlighting India’s economic transformation, the President said the country is steadily advancing toward its vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, driven by entrepreneurship, digital innovation, manufacturing excellence and a young, skilled workforce. She said India is seeking trusted global partnerships that promote shared prosperity.
President Murmu described Moldova as an attractive destination for Indian businesses, citing its reform-oriented policies, strategic location, skilled human capital and growing integration with European markets.
She identified significant opportunities for collaboration across a wide range of sectors, including digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, digital public infrastructure, infrastructure development, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and healthcare.
The President also noted that Indian companies are keen to participate in Moldova’s renewable energy initiatives, including solar power, battery storage, smart grids, green hydrogen and other clean energy technologies.
Inviting Moldovan businesses to expand their presence in India, President Murmu reaffirmed India’s commitment to maintaining a transparent, predictable and investor-friendly business environment that encourages trade and investment.
She also encouraged Indian companies to explore business opportunities in Moldova, expressing confidence that their innovation and enterprise would help build long-term economic partnerships between the two nations.
President Murmu said discussions at the India–Moldova Business Forum would pave the way for new investments, stronger commercial ties and innovative collaborations, further strengthening bilateral economic relations.
The forum brought together leading business representatives from both countries representing sectors such as agriculture and food processing, information technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, renewable energy, education, logistics and digital technologies.
