New Delhi, India — Dr. Munish Kumar Raizada, President of the Liberal Party of India (BLP) and a former participant in the Anna Hazare movement alongside Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal, is now set to challenge Kejriwal in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Dr. Raizada, who was previously a pediatrician in the United States, is contesting from the high-profile New Delhi seat. This constituency has garnered significant attention as it features prominent candidates, including Kejriwal, BJP’s Pravesh Verma, and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit.
Speaking to journalists, Dr. Raizada recounted his journey, stating that he returned to India 14 years ago during the peak of the Anna Hazare movement. “We felt the need for a Jan Lokpal Bill to combat corruption. I joined the movement and later became a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. However, when Arvind Kejriwal began deviating from the party’s founding principles, we opposed him,” he said.

Dr. Raizada explained how he and others brought their concerns to Anna Hazare, highlighting AAP’s shift away from its core values. This led to the launch of the Chanda Band Satyagraha (No Donations Movement). In 2019, Dr. Raizada created a web series titled Transparency, which unveiled untold stories of the Anna movement and AAP’s inner workings.
A staunch advocate against corruption, Dr. Raizada emphasized that the issue remains his primary focus. “Corruption is a critical issue in Indian politics, yet all parties are ignoring it. We urge people to join the Indian Liberal Party and support us by voting for our election symbol—the dustbin,” he stated.
Dr. Raizada further explained how his disillusionment with AAP led him to meet Anna Hazare again, where he and others expressed concerns about the party’s ideological drift. This inspired the launch of the Chanda Band Satyagraha, a campaign calling for transparency in political funding. “The deviation from ethical governance within AAP was alarming, and we believed it was our duty to oppose it. In 2019, I produced a web series titled Transparency, which uncovered the untold stories of the Anna movement and exposed the inner workings of AAP,” he added.
Dr. Raizada urged voters to support his vision for a corruption-free India by joining the Liberal Party and casting their votes for its election symbol, the dustbin. “The dustbin represents our commitment to clean up the system. Together, we can bring about the change that Indian politics desperately needs,” he concluded.
