Arsenal defines it in the last minutes and beats Manchester United
With so many agonizing goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesús, the Gunners accounted for the Red Devils 3-1
LONDON (EFE) – The most expensive signing in the history of Arsenal begins to pay dividends. Declan Rice, at his last breath, propelled his new team to victory against a Manchester United team that VAR canceled out a goal from Alejandro Garnacho in the 88th minute and that is still unable to compete against the greats.
The ‘Gunners’ got a crazy finish at the Emirates in one of the last plays of the match, when Rice, who cost more than 100 million, hit the ball with his soul in a corner, the ball touched Johny Evans and he went to the net to bring down a United that minutes before thought they had the game in hand, when only the VAR could prevent Garnacho’s goal.

This was how Arsenal confirmed a superiority that had been palpable from the start and despite the fact that United took the lead on the scoreboard, with a counter-attack play led by Christian Eriksen and brilliantly finished off by Rashford with a shot at the far post; because the feeling of the ‘red devils’ in these games is one of inferiority, of a small team.
It didn’t take much for Arsenal to crowd Erik Ten Hag’s men back, who were tired of defending in their own half and waiting for the runs of Rashford, Martial and Antony. A very poor approach for a team that used to enjoy these battles and was known for its offensive side.
Now, they play the role of an inferior team and are not able to maintain concentration even for a few seconds after taking the lead. As soon as they took the center line, Arsenal put together a combination between Martinelli and Nketiah so that the latter, already inside the area, raised his head and, despite the presence of six United defenders, found only Odegaard in the croissant. His violent shot went into the net and seemed the beginning of a comeback that was stalled until the 96th minute.
Before, Martinelli had it, with a volley brushing a post, and also Bukayo Saka, in an inexplicable mistake in front of Onana, but above all it was close when the referee awarded a Wan-Bissaka penalty for bringing down Havertz.
The referee, Simon Hooper, was clear about it, but not the VAR, which reviewed it, called him to go to the screen and canceled it.
Arsenal’s best chances of not giving up points for the second consecutive week were fading, after the draw against Fulham in this same venue, and United were happy with the result, although not so much with the injury of Lisandro Martínez, who left injured , and with the goal that was annulled by Alejandro Garnacho in the 88th minute, when the VAR noted a slight offside in a one-on-one that the Argentine won against Ramsdale.
United could have won it, but in the 96th minute Rice caught a loose ball from a corner and unleashed madness in north London. And there was still one last bullet left for Arsenal, who eventually caught United on the counter and Gabriel Jesús, after seating Diogo Dalot, certified the 3-1.

The three points put Arsenal in fifth place, with ten, the same as Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and West Ham United, and leave United in eleventh position, with six points out of a possible twelve.
